What will you be doing?

Position: Actuarial Consultant (nearly or newly qualified actuary)
Location: Location: Hybrid, minimum 3 days a week with minimum 2 days in Dorking. Other day(s) could be in Dorking, Basingstoke or London.

At Unum UK we are seeking a nearly/newly qualified Actuary to join our Actuarial Risk and Capital team.

Our finance team drive our mission by supporting our business, customers and each other to achieve our best. The successful candidate will be one who thrives in a collaborative culture, taking accountability with support from the team to achieve success and develop themselves and others.

You will be responsible for analysing and reporting on demographic and economic experience and use the analysis and actuarial judgement to support the setting of assumptions, calibrate the capital stresses for the internal model and report on the experience. There are also opportunities to work on change and capital initiatives, projects and provide guidance/coaching to actuarial students.

What you will bring:

  • Will consider a range of qualification from (1-2 exams outstanding) up to 3 years post-qualified.
  • From GI and Pensions backgrounds and looking for a switch to Life insurance? We’ve had lots of success in bringing candidates across.
  • Already in Life insurance? Group risk might provide a new perspective.   
  • Knowledge of Solvency UK and UK regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both supporting student actuaries and delivering to senior managers.
  • A drive to develop, a focus on understanding and challenging methodologies as well as strong delivery, adapting across a variety of activities.
