General Summary:

The Second-in-Command (SIC) reports functionally to the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) during the assigned flight and administratively to the Chief Pilot on all other matters.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in the safe and efficient conduct of the flight
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of the Pilot-in-Command (PIC)
  • Assumes Pilot-in-Command (PIC) duties, including control of the flight, in the event of Pilot-in-Command (PIC) incapacitation
  • Participates in the Safety Management System
  • Completes an aircraft preflight inspection before each departure
  • Provides the passenger safety briefing to the passengers
  • Flies the aircraft per the directions of the Pilot-in-Command (PIC)
  • Performs takeoffs and landings under the authority of the Pilot-in-Command (PIC)
  • Assumes any duties delegated by the Assistant Vice President, Aviation or Chief Pilot
  • and/ or Pilot-in-Command (PIC)

Job Specifications

  • Holds at least a Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Instrument and Multi-Engine Rating
  • Possesses a First-Class FAA Medical Certificate. Note: The Medical Certificate may lapse to a Second Class for Contract Pilots ONLY.
  • Possesses a valid and current passport and radiotelephony license

$109,100.00-$224,000.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.  All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
