As Engineering Manager (Face Intelligence), you'll lead this critical team in Tallinn, Madrid, or remotely across Europe.

This senior leadership role combines deep technical expertise in computer vision, facial biometrics, and ML operations with proven people management skills. You'll oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of biometric models—from groundbreaking research to production deployment at global scale. Your work directly impacts millions of daily verifications, driving authentication accuracy above 99% while maintaining privacy and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

As Engineering Manager, you'll wear multiple hats: technical visionary, team builder, and strategic partner. Here's what success looks like in the first 12 months:

• Team Leadership: Recruit, develop, and retain top talent in data science and ML engineering. Build a 10-15 person team with clear ownership and career progression paths.
• Technical Strategy: Define the roadmap for face biometrics, liveness detection, and anti-spoofing capabilities. Prioritize initiatives that deliver measurable fraud reduction.
• End-to-End Ownership: Manage the complete ML lifecycle including data pipelines, model training, A/B testing, deployment, and production monitoring.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers to translate business requirements into ML metrics. Work with Fraud teams to stay ahead of evolving attack vectors.
• Infrastructure Excellence: Collaborate with ML Platform teams to build scalable training infrastructure and low-latency inference systems handling millions of daily predictions.
• Risk Management: Ensure models meet strict regulatory standards (GDPR, eIDAS) while maintaining state-of-the-art accuracy across diverse demographics.
• Innovation Leadership: Drive research into emerging threats like generative AI fraud and presentation attacks. Prototype novel defenses before they hit production.
• Performance Culture: Establish OKRs, experimentation frameworks, and post-mortems that drive continuous improvement and scientific rigor.

Expect to spend 40% of your time on people management, 40% on technical strategy/execution, and 20% on cross-functional partnership.

Qualifications & Requirements

We're looking for a rare combination of hands-on ML expertise and leadership maturity. You should bring:

• 8+ years in machine learning with 3+ years managing DS/ML teams
• Deep expertise in facial recognition, liveness detection, or anti-spoofing systems
• Experience shipping production ML models at scale (millions of inferences/day)
• Strong computer vision background (CNNs, transformers, 3D face modeling)
• Proven ability to handle adversarial ML threats and model robustness
• Experience with ML infrastructure (Kubeflow, SageMaker, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with biometric regulations and privacy frameworks
• Technical proficiency in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and cloud platforms
• Track record mentoring senior individual contributors into staff/principal roles
• Excellent communication for both technical and executive audiences

Bonus points for: Publications in CVPR/ICCV, experience with deepfake detection, or leading biometric teams in fintech/security.
