Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Growth: Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing cross-functional team responsible for end-to-end biometric authentication product development.
• Technical Strategy: Define team structure, engineering practices, ownership models, and measurable delivery outcomes as we scale from startup velocity to enterprise reliability.
• Product Delivery: Own complete delivery lifecycle of bioauth features including mobile SDKs, backend services for face retrieval/matching, and ML model integration.
• Infrastructure Excellence: Architect scalable infrastructure for biometric operations: face encoding storage, high-throughput retrieval systems, real-time matching pipelines, and liveness verification.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Product, Data Science, ML Platform, Fraud Prevention, and Legal teams to deliver secure, compliant solutions.
• In-House Innovation: Drive strategic initiatives to develop proprietary biometric capabilities, eliminating third-party dependencies and accelerating innovation velocity.
• ML Productionization: Partner with Data Science to integrate cutting-edge face recognition, liveness detection, and anti-spoofing models into production systems.
• Operational Reliability: Build comprehensive monitoring, observability, performance optimization, and incident response practices across all biometric infrastructure.
• Privacy & Compliance: Architect privacy-first systems ensuring GDPR compliance, responsible biometric data handling, and regulatory excellence.
• Culture Building: Foster a team environment centered on technical excellence, collaboration, ownership, and direct customer impact.
• Performance Leadership: Drive continuous improvement in system performance, developer experience, and product quality metrics.
• Strategic Influence: Shape Veriff's authentication strategy and technical architecture as a key partner to executive leadership.
• Go-to-Market Readiness: Ensure technical excellence supports rapid, reliable product launches serving enterprise customers globally.

Qualifications & Requirements

The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise combined with proven engineering management success in high-stakes, user-facing systems:

• 8+ years software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing engineering teams
• Proven success leading cross-functional teams building production biometric, identity, or authentication systems
• Expertise developing mobile SDKs for iOS, Android, and Web platforms at scale
• Architecture experience with high-throughput backend systems handling biometric data
• Hands-on ML integration experience (face recognition, liveness detection, anti-spoofing)
• Demonstrated ability scaling engineering teams from 5 to 20+ members
• Deep knowledge of privacy regulations (GDPR) and biometric data compliance
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Legal, Compliance, and Data Science
• Technical leadership building systems serving millions of global users
• Passion for identity verification, digital trust, and fraud prevention challenges
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Salary & Benefits
