Job Description

Visa’s Technical Communications Services team is a part of a global community of problem solvers and innovators helping to reshape the future of commerce. The Opportunity:

As a leader of technical writers with TCS, you will be an integral part of a cross-functional team inventing, designing, building, commercializing, and supporting products that reach a truly global customer base.  TCS is an industry leader in applying Generative AI to technical documentation, emphasizing GenAI-powered efficiency, continuous innovation, semantically-precise DITA XML, and a passion for user-centered outcomes.

Essential Functions:

• Lead a team of technical writers to create and maintain the technical documentation that helps B2B clients and Visa staff understand how to implement and support Visa software products.
• Use, enhance, and invent GenAI-powered solutions that drive the efficient creation of high-quality documentation.
• Support omni-channel publishing that gets the right content to the right user through the right channel.
• Build deep cross-functional partnerships (product managers, Client Services, architects, engineers) to identify and clarify requirements, understand business needs, and deliver required documentation.
• Build a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous innovation.
• Support diverse end-user personas, including API developers, business users, SDK developers, mainframe developers, users of UI-based products, and internal staff.
• Demonstrate passion for learning about the products you document.
• A skilled practitioner who can lean-in and take a hands-on approach to solve problems and deliver results.
• Comfortable working across multiple time zones.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• 10+ years of experience in technical writing, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
• 5 years of work experience with a PhD.
• Strong people management skills 
• Advanced proficiency in technical writing skills and/or software development.
• Demonstrated leadership in areas of expertise, both functionally and cross-functionally.
• Strong technical background, ideally with experience in software development or engineering.
• Demonstrated track record as a self-motivated, life-long learner in the field of technical writing and related technologies.
• Experience using GenAI to create documentation.
• Docs-as-code experience.
• Expertise with technologies related to technical writing, such as GitHub, Cline, Oxygen Positron, DITA, Visual Studio Code, Markdown, Swagger, Redoc, Javadoc, Doxygen, static site generators, XSL.
