Job Description

We are seeking a candidate with a demonstrated ability to lead by influence with a record of successfully delivering modern, large-scale, complex services and products with the highest levels of security and reliability. This is accomplished by leading multiple large diverse technical teams at all levels and closely collaborate with program and product teams. 

Your mission is to provide hands-on leadership to global Payment Processing teams and build a world-class team of engineers. The focus is on defining, executing, and delivering functional and non-functional features at scale quickly and promoting a diverse culture of cross-functional collaboration and engineering excellence. Be an idea leader and bring industry best practices to benefit the team and the wider organization. The ability to synthesize and simplify complex needs including business capabilities and operational efficiencies while conforming to regulatory, security and privacy requirements is required.

As a Senior Director, Payment Processing in Acceptance Solutions, you will pave the way for our most important asset, our engineering teams, to deliver amazing features of the highest quality. You will be working with colleagues, who will help, support and challenge you every day.

You will provide technical leadership, foster innovation, set engineering excellence standards, and collaborate with business teams to develop cutting-edge products and solutions. Essential Functions:

• Drive the design, implementation, and deployment of secure, reliable, robust and interoperable products.
• Provide leadership across the engineering organization to ensure solutions are built in alignment with platform principles and standards of six nines availability.
• Define technical strategy for the payment processing platform that aligns with the product vision and accelerates innovation.
• Drive strategic impact by delivering fit-for-purpose products with an accelerated time to market.
• Leverage AI/ML technologies in bringing productivity across the SDLC phases and develop innovative business solutions.
• Partner with Product, Regional teams on requirements and prioritization. Influence product strategy and roadmap.
• Lead a multi-disciplinary team of software developers, data engineers, AI & ML experts, test engineers, release engineers.
• Develop and nurture the engineering team by hiring critical talent, driving retention, motivating, and mentoring staff, and driving career growth for team members. Build an inclusive team culture, and a culture of ownership and accountability.
• Ensure strong program management and governance practices for your team.
• Forge strong partnerships with key stakeholders across Technology & Business.
• Role model Visa Leadership Principles (VLPs).

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• 18 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or with an Advanced Degree.
• 15+ years of experience leading product development and delivery using multiple technologies - Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Angular, JavaScript, MySQL, REST, Maven, Kubernetes, VertX, Kafka, Hazelcast, design patterns, test automation frameworks
• Extensive experience in designing, developing, and deploying mission-critical, scalable and secure distributed applications
• Good understanding and experience leading AI/ML initiatives
• Broad experience and understanding of modern development on both on-prem and cloud platforms, including the use of CI/CD frameworks
• Strong experience with agile methodologies & software development lifecycle

• Excel in partnering with Product leaders and technical product managers on requirements, helping define joint product/technology roadmaps & driving prioritization
• Experience driving continuous improvements to processes/tools for better developer efficiency and productivity
• Demonstrated ability to drive measurable improvements across engineering, delivery and performance metrics
• Demonstrated success in leading high performing, multi-disciplinary and geographically distributed engineering teams. Demonstrated ability to hire, develop and retain high-caliber talent
• Excellent problem solving and analytics skills. Capable of forming and advocating an independent viewpoint
• Must demonstrate longer-term strategic thinking and staying abreast with latest technologies
• Highly driven, resourceful, and results-oriented
• Strong collaboration and effective communication, with focus on win-win outcomes
• Payments industry experience is preferred
