About the Role

Wayfair is seeking a passionate Staff Software Engineer for the Data Platforms team in Bangalore, focused on revolutionizing warehouse and logistics operations through advanced data engineering. This role involves shaping the New-Age Data Platform strategy, emphasizing large-scale data ingestion from fulfillment centers, real-time transformation for inventory management, and cloud-native architectures ready for AI-driven supply chain optimization. The engineer will lead the development of 'Data Platform as a Product' offerings, ensuring seamless data discovery, lineage, quality, contracts, and governance to empower logistics teams across Wayfair's global operations. Key to this position is designing platforms that support real-time messaging for warehouse coordination, predictive analytics for logistics, and agentic AI capabilities for autonomous operations. The Staff Engineer will collaborate with full stack engineering and operations stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions that drive efficiency in Wayfair's supply chain, from data ingestion in distribution centers to consumption by analytics teams optimizing delivery networks. This is a pivotal leadership role with direct impact on Wayfair's ability to scale e-commerce logistics globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Shape and execute Wayfair’s New-Age Data Platform strategy for data ingestion and transformation
• Design and implement cloud-native, AI-ready data platforms supporting warehouse and logistics operations
• Build real-time messaging platforms for operational data flows
• Drive Data Platform as a Product offerings for internal logistics teams
• Lead initiatives in data discovery, lineage, quality, and governance
• Empower supply chain and fulfillment teams with scalable data consumption tools
• Collaborate with warehouse operations to define data contracts
• Optimize data platforms for real-time inventory and logistics tracking

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering with focus on data platforms
• Deep expertise in large-scale data ingestion and transformation pipelines
• Proven track record in designing cloud-native data platforms
• Experience with real-time messaging systems and data governance
• Strong leadership in data discovery, lineage, quality, and contracts
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML-ready data architectures

• Experience in warehouse logistics data platforms
