As a Compliance Officer based in Hong Kong, you’ll join a growing multidisciplinary team to build world-class products while managing relationships with regulators like C&ED and HKMA. You’ll ensure our regulatory authorisations remain appropriate, advise on new regulations and risks, and oversee financial crime controls across KYC, AML, Sanctions, and Fraud, defending our compliance program externally to regulators and partners. In this role, you’ll drive second-line oversight, collaborate with Product, Operations, and Banking teams globally, and support compliant product launches in fast-growing APAC markets. With ultimate responsibility for Hong Kong compliance, you’ll horizon scan for emerging threats, respond to escalations, and engage stakeholders to keep compliance at the heart of our mission for money without borders. We’re seeking an expert with 8+ years in Hong Kong financial regulation, strong communication skills, and fluency in English and Cantonese. Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversight compliance with Hong Kong Financial Crime obligations, including mapping of controls and monitoring assurance activities
• Assist in update and maintenance of local policies, procedures and controls
• Collaborate on horizon scanning by documenting regulation updates, emerging threats and communicating to stakeholders
• Build and maintain relationships with 1LOD FCC & KYC Operations colleagues for oversight of processes, risks and incidents
• Respond to financial crime escalations and requests from 1LOD, Product and Partnership teams
• Provide guidance and challenge to 1LOD teams on financial crime controls and new products
• Engage with regulators, bank partners and law enforcement to defend Wise’s FCC Program
• Assist with compliance related projects and tasks

Required Qualifications

• Over 8 years experience in managing compliance with financial regulation in Hong Kong
• Expert in regulatory and fincrime compliance with thorough knowledge of Hong Kong regulations
• Background in Financial Regulation advisory role or Compliance team
• Fluency in English and Cantonese
• Strong communication and organisational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience dealing with regulators such as C&ED and HKMA
• Experience in financial crime controls (KYC, AML, Sanctions, Fraud)
• Background in multidisciplinary teams (Product, Treasury, Banking, Security)
