About the Role

Join Wise's dynamic Wise Platform team as EMEA Senior Risk Lead, where you'll scale and strengthen onboarding and compliance operations for enterprise businesses and banks partnering with Wise. Lead the team assessing compliance policies, producing risk memos, and managing continuous monitoring to ensure effective oversight. Influence Wise’s mission by enabling instant, borderless money movement through strategic risk management. Wise Platform is a startup within a scale-up, with a cross-functional global team from London to Singapore and Austin. Your role involves evolving procedures with Group Compliance, implementing data-driven reviews and monitoring systems, driving risk threshold decisions, and collaborating across sales, product, and engineering for seamless partner onboarding. Take ownership of scaling the risk function: hire specialists, set high-performance KPIs, automate processes, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. With experience in correspondent banking and financial services compliance, you'll balance growth opportunities with risk in a fast-paced environment committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Group Compliance to evolve onboarding and monitoring procedures to manage partner risk
  • Set the standard for partner compliance reviews that summarise findings and determine risk scores, ensuring they are data-driven and aligned with Wise’s risk tolerance and regulatory requirements
  • Implement robust monitoring systems to track partners' compliance operations and utilize data for informed decisions
  • Drive decisions on acceptable risk thresholds for partners and ensure risk is identified, managed, and communicated effectively
  • Work across departments to ensure timely onboarding of banks and enterprise partners with a best-in-class experience
  • Educate cross-functional teams about partner risk and support decision-making
  • Take calculated risks and provide defensible arguments to support decisions
  • Lead scaling of the risk function, hire and onboard team members, set KPIs and SLAs, and drive process enhancements and automation

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in Correspondent Banking
  • Experienced in compliance risk management within Financial Services
  • Proven leader with a track record of building and scaling high-performing compliance or risk teams in fast-paced environments
  • Demonstrated capability in strong stakeholder management and resilience, with the ability to effectively navigate complex organizational dynamics
  • Experienced in financial compliance consulting with a knack for presentation and persuasion to align teams and drive decisions
