Job Description

Engineering Lead - Investments & Savings

Location: Global

Team: General

About the Role

Join Wise Assets, where we're revolutionizing how customers grow their money by offering government-backed assets tracking base rates or global indices—passing yields directly to users unlike traditional banks. We're seeking two Engineering Leads to spearhead Investments and Savings, expanding to individual stocks, tax-efficient pots, and diverse asset options with instant access and bankruptcy protection. You'll define the product and technical foundations from the ground up, balancing risk, yield, and customer control in a global financial platform. As Engineering Lead, you'll partner with Product Managers to craft roadmaps, lead talented engineers through coaching and blocker removal, ensure resilient scalable delivery, and align with Wise's engineering strategy. Own hiring, foster ownership and collaboration, and drive innovation in real-asset backed accounts. With a starting salary of £100,000-£125,000 + RSUs, flexible global work, and a mission to build money without borders, this is your chance to shape the future of finance at a diverse, inclusive tech leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Manager and cross-functional team to shape roadmap and set technical vision
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of engineers to foster growth and remove blockers
  • Ensure strong execution through clear planning, realistic commitments, and healthy operations

  • Foster culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Align team with Wise's wider technical strategy and architecture
  • Own hiring, development, and long-term impact of the team
  • Drive expansion of Wise Assets including new asset types and tax-efficient wrappers

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience as an Engineering Manager leading high-performing teams
  • Strong background in building scalable financial systems or fintech products
  • Proven track record in technical leadership and mentoring engineers
  • Experience shaping product roadmaps and technical vision in collaboration with Product Managers
  • Deep understanding of financial products, investments, or savings platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with asset management, custody, or investment platforms
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in finance (e.g., bankruptcy protection, tax wrappers)
  • Prior work in global, distributed teams
  • Familiarity with Wise's tech stack or similar modern infrastructure

Required Skills

  • Roadmap planning and execution
  • Scalable systems design
  • Financial domain knowledge
