As Engineering Lead, you'll guide a cross-functional team of backend and frontend engineers, working closely with Product, Analyst, and Design to create adaptable tools that empower thousands of Servicing agents worldwide—from Singapore to Austin—to verify customers and mitigate risks securely. This platform not only standardizes scalable operations but also provides critical insights into operational costs and bottlenecks, enabling product teams to optimize and reduce costs for Wise customers. Key Responsibilities

• Lead a cross-functional team of 5 engineers (backend, frontend) alongside Product Manager, Analyst, and Designer
• Guide development of infrastructure providing insights into operational costs and bottlenecks
• Build adaptable platform tools for Wise Servicing agents to verify customers and mitigate financial crime risks
• Foster collaboration, ownership, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement
• Design technical solutions balancing latency, throughput, and scalability
• Mentor engineers to grow their skills and industry presence
• Drive team vision alignment with Wise values and mission
• Empower individual contributors while contributing technically and on product initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in leading and mentoring software engineers
• Strong technical expertise in OOP Languages (Java) and modern technology stacks
• Experience with REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and CI/CD pipelines
• Track record of writing clean, testable, maintainable code
• Great communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Experience working with globally distributed cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services or risk mitigation platforms
• Background in building scalable back-office solutions
• Familiarity with Wise's tech stack or similar fintech environments
