About the Role

Wise is a global technology company revolutionizing the way people move and manage money across borders with min fees, max ease, and full speed. We're seeking a Financial Crime Product Compliance & Risk Senior Manager for AU/NZ to join our APAC Product team. In this hands-on, first line of defense role embedded in the Product Squad, you'll ensure our innovative products launch compliantly, manage FinCrime risks, and deliver exceptional customer experiences while navigating AUSTRAC and regional regulations. Your mission is to pioneer compliant product development by conducting risk assessments, interpreting regulations, and enabling a risk-based approach for new services. This role offers rapid growth in fintech, impact on millions, and partnership with diverse, international teams committed to money without borders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enable Product teams to adopt a risk-based approach in developing products, processes, and controls
  • Stay ahead of FinCrime trends and the regulatory agenda in AU/NZ
  • Identify and align with risk owners and second line of defence on the main FinCrime risks and issues in AU/NZ. Present this in a very clear and understandable way to wider teams, and work collaboratively to define and execute mitigation plans
  • Conduct regulatory gap analyses, define and scope required actions to remediate gaps, and take ownership over ensuring implementation plans are executed in a timely manner
  • In collaboration with global teams, identify opportunities to maximise synergies and drive consistency and scalability by leveraging programs of work already executed or in flight across the Wise Group
  • Manage audits, and (where required) challenge audit findings in collaboration with Product and second line of defence Risk and Compliance teams
  • Develop remediation plans, and ensure they are agreed upon and executed promptly

Required Qualifications

  • Problem solving attitude, with the ability analyse and interpret complex regulatory and risk management frameworks and apply them effectively with data to drive practical, actionable and value-adding business decisions
  • A team player with a collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively with different stakeholders such as Product, Risk and Compliance
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and call-out key areas of improvement
