FinCrime Operations Senior Lead - Sanctions

About the Role

As the FinCrime Operations Senior Lead - Sanctions, you will lead a team of 6 Team Leads and 60 Sanctions Agents, driving high performance in financial crime operations to protect our customers and platform. This hands-on role involves coaching your team, managing hiring and capacity, owning service delivery, and proactively monitoring controls while building strong ties with Product, Analytics, Engineering, and Compliance teams. You'll thrive by setting ambitious targets, fostering accountability, and becoming a subject matter expert in sanctions processes and tools. With 3-5 years of operations leadership experience in financial crime, excellent communication, and the ability to analyze metrics and handle multiple projects across global teams, you'll ensure seamless operations in a fast-paced, diverse environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead 6 Team Leads and 60 Sanctions Agents
  • Coach, develop and performance manage the team to drive a high performance culture
  • Hiring new staff as you build out your team
  • Own demand and capacity planning for your team ensuring we have enough staff to support our customers
  • Manage service delivery ensuring your finger is always on the pulse with all queues and customers are not left waiting for responses
  • Take ownership of issues and incidents
  • Proactively monitor process controls to ensure consistent performance ensuring any irregularity is investigated
  • Maintain strong relationships with Product, Analytics, Engineering and Compliance
  • Become a subject matter expert for processes and tooling

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience leading an Operations Team preferably within Financial Crime
  • Great communicator both verbal and written
  • Experience setting targets and holding your team accountable to them
  • Proven track record of taking individual ownership and responsibilities as well as being a great team-player
  • Good understanding and ability to analyse, forecast and move of team’s metrics
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a complex organisation, across multiple cultures, geographies, and disciplines
  • Project management and organisational skills and capability to handle multiple projects at one time
  • Able to travel as needed

  • Additional language skills in one or more jurisdictions in which Wise has operations
