This foundational role offers a unique opportunity to impact Wise’s mission by scaling operations, driving efficiency, and saving millions more people money on international payments. You’ll own operational excellence for cross-border products in India, collaborating with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Banking, and external partners like banks and regulators. From setting high-impact OKRs to leading incident management and fostering a risk-first culture, you’ll ensure your high-skilled team delivers on quality, speed, and cost. With a focus on people leadership, you’ll nurture talent, provide actionable feedback, and create a motivating environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Build and scale the new India Payment Operations team from ground-up, including recruitment and onboarding
  • Own operational excellence of cross-border products in India
  • Work closely with internal teams (Product, Engineering, Compliance, Banking) and external partners (banks, regulators)
  • Set OKRs focused on quality, speed, risk, and cost, and drive team execution
  • Manage team resources, skills, and workflows for high-quality, high-speed operations
  • Own core operational metrics including SLAs, quality scores, and error rates
  • Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and preventative measures
  • Champion risk-first culture and manage full lifecycle of specialists with focus on retention and development

Required Qualifications

  • Proven track record of managing a front-line operational team to high-stakes KPIs
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience building high-functioning teams
  • Comfortable entering an environment that needs restructuring or refinement
  • Great relationship builder and honest communicator who can persuade stakeholders
  • Self-starter who thrives in an autonomous environment with strong ownership mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in cross-border payments or fintech operations
