We are seeking a Product Compliance and Risk Lead - FinCrime (Europe) to lead our EU FinCrime Product Compliance and Risk team. This senior, influential role within the 1LoD Product organisation involves hands-on collaboration with product managers, analysts, and engineers to scale and enhance Wise's financial crime program, ensuring robust AML/CTF risk management while staying customer-centric. Your mission is to steer team priorities, oversee solution design for FinCrime challenges, develop the 1LoD Risk Monitoring Framework tailored to Wise’s products and EEA presence, conduct root cause analyses, and engage with regulators and executives. You will embed compliance into the product lifecycle, driving innovation without compromising trust or growth. Ideal candidates bring deep Belgian/European AML/CTF expertise, strong collaboration skills, and a proactive mindset for fast-paced fintech environments. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the EU FinCrime Product Compliance and Risk Team setting priorities and ensuring alignment across key stakeholders
  • Oversee and steer solution design and implementation for identified FinCrime problem areas, or improvement opportunities
  • Ensure FinCrime issues are correctly prioritized, resolved, and followed up on until closure
  • Provide advice to product teams to guide them effectively design resolving issues and developing new features
  • Steer the development of the 1LoD FinCrime Risk Monitoring Framework for Wise Europe
  • Oversee and initiate root cause analyses on risk and efficiency trends, and recommend control or efficiency improvements
  • Present monitoring outcomes and updates to relevant committees on both Wise EU and group level, including executive management, the regulator, and the Board
  • Represent Wise and address queries from third parties (such as regulators or banking partners) regarding Wise’s FinCrime framework

Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Belgian and/or European AML/CTF regulations (AMLD, EBA Guidelines) and NBB guidance
  • Experience in collaborating with Product Managers, Engineers, and Operational teams, providing practical recommendations
  • Excellent communication, project coordination, and management skills
  • Ability to think qualitatively and draw conclusions by leveraging data
  • Problem-solving mindset, with experience (or strong interest) in working in a fast-paced, growing environment and directly with product teams
  • Willingness to travel, as Wise offices are located across multiple countries
  • Legally authorized to work in the EU (Belgium)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Team management experience
  • Previous experience in engaging with EU regulators on AML/CTF topics
  • Able to speak French or Dutch
