About the Role

At Wise, we're building money without borders. As Product Lead – Risk & Controls Assurance, you'll own the effectiveness of our control framework in Europe and the UK to prevent financial crime. Working with regional and global teams, you'll identify enhancement opportunities, manage Key Risk Indicators within risk appetite, and build roadmaps for scalable controls that minimize customer friction while supporting new products. This role offers significant impact on Wise's safety and security, collaboration with diverse talents, and data-driven innovation in financial crime prevention. Key Responsibilities

• Own the effectiveness of the entire control framework used by Wise in Europe and the UK to prevent financial crime
• Identify key opportunities for enhancements based on audits, internal reviews, and market trends
• Own the Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for the region and proactively solve for negative trends
• Build a roadmap to significantly improve control effectiveness
• Work closely with Europe/UK and global teams to ensure right controls for new products/features
• Customise global controls to address specific regional risks
• Ensure controls are scalable to reduce customer fees
• Collaborate with onboarding team to mitigate customer friction

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience in financial crime prevention, risk management, or compliance in fintech or banking
• Proven track record leading control framework enhancements and risk assurance programs
• Strong understanding of regional regulations in Europe and UK (e.g., AML, KYC, financial crime prevention)
• Experience owning and managing Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and risk appetite frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and global teams

• Experience in scalable control design minimizing customer friction
• Background in data-driven decision making for risk and controls
• Knowledge of global due diligence practices and their regional customisation
