Join the Finance Data Assurance team at Wise, where we power financial controls on the ledger to ensure the integrity of our financial data. This data drives data governance, business intelligence, and compliance services. Our mission is to make Wise's financial data accurate and trustworthy through an intelligent, automated, and scalable platform that prevents issues or resolves them automatically, empowering Operations teams and freeing engineers for innovation. We're evolving infrastructure for tackling financial transaction issues with speed. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll think holistically about our financial ecosystem, deliver novel solutions for intelligent automation and proactive detection, and lead complex projects in a culture of automation, reusable design, and passion for complex financial flows. Transform complex requirements into elegant solutions, mentor peers, own production systems, and collaborate cross-functionally to evolve our platform and improve key metrics. Base salary £85,000 - £105,000 + RSUs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Deliver: Architect, build, and maintain low-latency, distributed applications using Java, Spring, and Kafka that form the backbone of our issue discovery and resolution platform
• Lead Projects: Take ownership of key projects, driving the implementation of our technical roadmap in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Mentor and Guide: Coach and mentor other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing through code reviews and design discussions
• Own Your Systems: Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues within our high-throughput production environment, ensuring the reliability of critical financial applications
• Collaborate and Influence: Work closely with product managers, operations teams, and other engineers to articulate complex technical concepts and align on strategic goals

Required Qualifications

• A genuine interest in and passion for understanding how financial systems work
• Strong technical skills in Java (or other JVM-based languages), Spring, and Kafka, with experience building distributed, high-throughput applications
• Comfort working across the stack, with some experience in front-end technologies like JavaScript and React
• A disciplined approach to testing and a high degree of comfort making changes to business-critical financial applications
• Proven experience running projects, collaborating with others, and navigating the path to successful delivery
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly
• You are a natural team player who builds strong, collaborative professional relationships
