About the Role

Join Wise's Servicing Platform team in Budapest as a Senior Software Engineer, where you'll build a cutting-edge platform to manage risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and power real-time transaction monitoring for millions of customers worldwide. Our Risk Engine, Feature Store, and Identity Linking solutions enable AML, Fraud, and other teams to prevent financial crime while scaling seamlessly. With 6+ years in Java/Spring and expertise in databases and distributed systems, you'll take ownership of high-impact projects, collaborating across engineering, data science, and product teams to deliver reliable, low-latency solutions that protect customer funds and drive Wise's mission of money without borders. You'll thrive in a global, inclusive environment embracing Wise's values, making real-world impact by automating fraud detection, optimizing for massive transaction volumes, and enhancing customer experiences. Key Responsibilities

• Build and enhance the Risk Engine, Feature Store, and Identity Linking solutions
• Collaborate with software engineers, data analysts, and data scientists
• Develop scalable systems for real-time transaction monitoring and risk assessment
• Optimize for latency and throughput under heavy transaction volumes
• Take end-to-end ownership of customer problems and drive projects to completion
• Write high-quality, testable code following TDD and best practices
• Participate in code reviews and provide open feedback
• Work closely with product managers and other teams to deliver compliant solutions

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience with Java or another JVM-based language
• Proficiency in the Spring framework
• Deep understanding of JDBC and database internals
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with distributed and concurrent systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with both relational and non-relational databases
• Strong skills in query optimization and schema design
• Background in real-time systems or high-throughput applications
