Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team at WVU Medicine. Day in the Life

As an Accountant at WVU Medicine, your day-to-day activities may include:

• Developing strong relationships with department managers to coordinate and monitor financial controls over the organization’s cost centers according to approved budget guidelines.
• Coordinating accounting and financial processes to maximize efficiency in the daily accounting operations and ensuring that internal control measures are being followed.
• Maintaining the general ledger to complete and submit accurate financial data during the month-end process according to predetermined deadlines.
• Leading and coordinating month-end variance analysis.
• Overseeing and reviewing month-end general ledger reconciliations.
• Overseeing the work and development of assigned Accounting Department staff.
• Coordinating other staff duties to accomplish department goals and objectives and delegating projects/duties as necessary.
• Developing and submitting analytical financial data as needed by the department director/manager.
• Assisting in completing and compiling financial support documentation for budget and external audit purposes.
• Assisting in coordination of the budget and external audit review.
• Training new personnel and monitoring their progress.
• Participating in educational opportunities as provided by the hospital to enhance skill-related abilities.
• Supporting performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
• Ensuring duties of specialty focus are completed accurately and timely (i.e., monthly financial statements, consolidated financial statements, bonds, cash flow projections, etc.)
• Overseeing functions of assigned Accounting Department staff.
