  • Assess and coordinate the educational and psychosocial needs of patients and their caretakers.
  • Develop and review patient care plans in collaboration with the clinical team.
  • Direct and coordinate patient care, including discharge planning and follow-up.
  • Participate in the education of residents and medical/nursing students.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures, such as physical examinations and ordering/interpreting lab tests and imaging.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures, such as injections, wound care, and casting.
  • Provide healthcare services consistent with state law and professional licensing requirements.
  • Evaluate and treat orthopedic conditions of the hand and upper extremity.
  • Prescribe medications as needed and manage medication refills.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and completely in the electronic health record.
  • Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research projects.
  • Maintain current knowledge of orthopedic advances and best practices.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Provide patient education on disease processes, treatment options, and preventative care.
  • Manage post-operative care for orthopedic patients.
  • Assist in the operating room as needed.
  • Provide on-call coverage as required.
  • Triage patient phone calls and address patient concerns.
  • Ensure patient safety and privacy at all times.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and continuing education activities.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.
