Required Qualifications

• For Nurse Practitioner: Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing. (experience)
• For Nurse Practitioner: National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers. (experience)
• For Nurse Practitioner: Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia. (experience)
• For Nurse Practitioner: American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certification required. (experience)
• For Nurse Practitioner: Acute care or emergency medicine experience preferred (eligible new graduates will be considered). (experience)
• For Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree as a Medical/Surgical Physician Assistant required. (experience)
• For Physician Assistant: Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program. (experience)
• For Physician Assistant: NCCPA certification or eligibility for certification. (experience)
• For Physician Assistant: Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant in West Virginia. (experience)
• For Physician Assistant: American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certification required. (experience)
• Strong clinical skills and experience in emergency medicine or urgent care settings. (experience)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. (experience)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. (experience)
• Proficiency in performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. (experience)
• Knowledge of relevant medical protocols and guidelines. (experience)

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments of patients, including biological, social, and psychological aspects.
• Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for emergency medicine and urgent care patients.
• Coordinate the involvement of medical/surgical specialty teams as necessary.
• Review the plan of care with other members of the clinical team.
• Direct patient care and ensure adherence to established protocols and guidelines.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as required.
• Coordinate discharge planning and follow-up care for patients.
• Participate in the education of residents and medical/nursing students.
• Provide healthcare services consistent with state law and professional licensing requirements.
• Adhere to hospital privileges and regulations.
• Document patient care accurately and comprehensively in the electronic health record.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Provide patient and family education on relevant medical conditions and treatment options.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices.
• Maintain current knowledge of medical advancements and evidence-based practices.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate care as needed.
• Triage patients based on the severity of their condition.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and laboratory studies.
• Prescribe medications and other treatments as appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to other healthcare professionals.
