Are you a compassionate and dedicated Medical Assistant (MA) looking to make a difference in the lives of children? WVU Medicine is seeking a skilled Ambulatory Care Assistant to join our Pediatric Subspecialty and Telemedicine Clinic in Morgantown, West Virginia. In this role, you will provide essential support to our medical staff, ensuring efficient patient care and a positive experience for our young patients and their families.
As an Ambulatory Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in the daily operations of our busy outpatient clinic. You will be responsible for a variety of clinical and clerical tasks, working under the direction of our attending physicians. Your duties will include:
Your day will begin with preparing the examination rooms and ensuring that all necessary supplies are stocked. As patients arrive, you will greet them warmly and guide them to the appropriate area. You will take their vital signs, update their medical records, and prepare them for their appointment with the physician.
During examinations, you will assist the physician by handing them instruments, administering medications, and providing comfort to the patient. You will also be responsible for documenting the physician's findings and orders in the patient's chart.
After the examination, you will schedule any follow-up appointments or tests that are needed. You will also answer any questions that the patient or their family may have.
Throughout the day, you will work closely with other members of the healthcare team, including nurses, medical secretaries, and other medical assistants. You will communicate effectively and collaborate to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.

The minimum qualifications are a high school diploma or equivalent, graduation from a Medical Assistant Program OR graduation from the Med Ed Program OR one (1) year of clinical experience, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
The preferred qualifications are registration or certification as a medical assistant and one (1) year of experience as a Medical Assistant or patient care.
The core duties and responsibilities include providing support to medical staff, assisting providers with patient care, administering medications, performing tests, obtaining specimens, documenting results, scheduling tests, acting as a chaperone, maintaining medical records, monitoring the nurse call system, providing assistance to patients and families, participating in quality assurance, generating charge data, maintaining inventory, and scheduling appointments.
The salary for this position will range from $30,000 to $45,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
