As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at WVU Medicine's Brain and Spine clinic in Hagerstown, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care. You will work under the direction and supervision of physicians, advanced practice professionals, and registered nursing staff, performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic and the well-being of our patients.
Your day will be dynamic and varied, encompassing a range of responsibilities. You will start by preparing exam rooms, ensuring they are clean, well-stocked, and ready for patients. As patients arrive, you will greet them warmly, escort them to the exam rooms, and gather essential information such as medical history, current medications, and vital signs. You will assist physicians and nurses during examinations and procedures, providing support and ensuring patient comfort. Other duties include scheduling appointments, managing referrals, educating patients on follow-up care, maintaining quality control logs, and ensuring medical equipment is in proper working order. You will also assist patients with completing medical documentation and maintain accurate patient records in our electronic health record (EHR) system.
