The minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or Equivalent, a valid Driver’s License, current AHA, NAEMT, and/or National Association of EMS Educators Instructor Certifications (or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire), National Registry and WV OEMS Certification within 6 months of hire, Certified WV EMS Instructor within six (6) months of hire, three (3) years’ experience as a Healthcare Provider, and two (2) years’ experience in healthcare instruction.
Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, Public Health, or related field, Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C, FP-C, UMBC CCP) certification, five (5) years’ experience as a Healthcare Educator, five (5) years’ experience of course coordination and classroom management, and two (2) years’ direct/indirect involvement in Emergency Medical Services.
The core duties include planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating EMS educational programs, evaluating learner performance, fulfilling administrative requirements, participating in continuing professional development, participating in emergency training, assisting in managing the LMS, assisting in EMS simulation education, assisting in managing EMS instructors, assisting in managing the National Registry and WVOEMS Provider Portal, maintaining the education calendar, and assisting new hires in the credentialing process.
A minimum of three years of experience as a Healthcare Provider and two years of experience in healthcare instruction are required. Five years of experience as a Healthcare Educator and experience in course coordination and classroom management are preferred.
Current American Heart Association (AHA), National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), and/or National Association of EMS Educators Instructor Certifications are required or the ability to obtain them within 6 months of hire. National Registry and WV OEMS Certification are required within 6 months of hire. Certified WV EMS Instructor certification is required within six (6) months of hire.
A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, Public Health, or related field is considered a preferred qualification.
