  • Check examining rooms daily - clean and stock as required.

  • Assist physician and/or Nurse Practitioner with treatments.

  • Perform Well Child exam and administer immunizations.
  • Contact pharmacies to authorize prescribed medication for patients.
  • Pull and process patient charts for next day (stamping, adding sheets, updating immunizations).
  • Thoroughly clean and stock each examination room weekly.
  • Make patient appointments.
  • Perform filing, answer phone, and other duties as assigned by the physician.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Monitor patient vital signs.
  • Provide patient education and support.

Required Qualifications

  • Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Practical Nursing, or appropriate state board where services will be provided, as a practical nurse OR current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). (experience)
  • Current CPR certification required. (experience)
  • Experience as an LPN preferred. (experience)
  • Ability to prepare charts and physical facilities for patient visits. (experience)
  • Proficiency in assisting with medical procedures during patient visits. (experience)
  • Ability to establish helpful and friendly relationships with patients. (experience)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology. (experience)
  • Understanding of infection control practices. (experience)
  • Ability to follow physician orders accurately. (experience)
  • Competency in administering medications. (experience)

  • Ability to effectively screen incoming calls. (experience)
  • Knowledge of patient confidentiality (HIPAA). (experience)
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift patients or equipment. (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Check examining rooms daily - clean and stock as required.
  • Prepare patients for the physician (weigh, measure, perform tests).
  • Clean examining room after patient leaves.
  • Carry out physician orders (give injections, make appointments, clean and bandage wounds, do assigned treatments).
  • Assist physician and/or Nurse Practitioner with treatments.
  • Screen incoming calls - decide if the physician and/or Nurse Practitioner needs to see or call patient.
  • Inform parents how to care for and what to expect from their illness.
  • Periodically check entire work area including waiting rooms and tidy up as necessary.
  • Record test (lab, radiology, etc.) results in patient charts and contact patients as necessary regarding tests.
  • Collect Urine Drug Screen Specimens and do proper paperwork.
  • Perform Breath Alcohol Tests.
  • Perform Well Child exam and administer immunizations.
  • Contact pharmacies to authorize prescribed medication for patients.
  • Pull and process patient charts for next day (stamping, adding sheets, updating immunizations).
  • Thoroughly clean and stock each examination room weekly.
  • Make patient appointments.
  • Perform filing, answer phone, and other duties as assigned by the physician.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Monitor patient vital signs.
  • Provide patient education and support.
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
