Responsibilities

  • Serves as liaison between dosimetry, physics, physicians, simulation therapists, staff therapists and other staff within the department.
  • Directly supervises the medical dosimetrists to include scheduled time off, performance evaluations, as well as major input into hiring, discipline and termination of medical dosimetry staff.
  • Provides input to the Chief Medical Physicist regarding the performance of the medical dosimetry staff.
  • Continuously monitors and assigns workload appropriately and fairly to direct reports and ensures optimal productivity and quality is achieved.
  • Documents workload in order to evaluate the need for additional staffing.
  • Maintains the accuracy of all treatment parameters and prescription data in Record/Verify (R/V) system.
  • Serves as super-user for dosimetry, maintains and enforces data integrity, and ensures maximum utilization of application from direct reports.
  • Develops policies and procedures pertaining to medical dosimetry and treatment planning.
  • Ensures that all necessary policies and procedures are developed to meet ASTRO APEx guidelines.
  • Provides input into the operating and capital budget as it relates to medical dosimetry.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations for new software products which impact medical dosimetry.
  • Establishes medical dosimetry QA and or QM programs as needed.
