The minimum qualifications include graduation from a Medical Imaging Program, Radiography certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) within 6 months of hire, a current or temporary Radiography license as required by the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board, and certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
While one year of experience as a computed tomography technologist is preferred, it is not always required. WVU Medicine may consider recent graduates of Medical Imaging Programs who possess the necessary certifications and licenses.
The primary responsibilities include preparing the CT scanning room, positioning patients, administering contrast media, operating the CT scanner, reconstructing and analyzing images, and ensuring patient safety.
