  • Assess laboratory values, drug-nutrient interactions, medical history, current nutritional needs, and nutrition education needs.
  • Develop care plans and write orders in the electronic medical record when nutrition intervention is needed for a patient.
  • Utilize Order Writing Privileges (with physician co-signature) whenever the physician orders the “MNT Protocol”.
  • Collaborate with other members of the department to improve food service and quality care to patients.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients and their families.
  • Monitor patient's nutritional status and make adjustments to the care plan as needed.
  • Stay updated on the latest research and guidelines in clinical nutrition.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable hospital policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of nutrition-related policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
  • Serve as a resource for other healthcare professionals on nutrition-related topics.
  • Document all patient care activities in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Attend and participate in departmental meetings and continuing education programs.
  • Collaborate with the food service department to ensure that patients' dietary needs are met.
  • Participate in the training and mentoring of new dietitians and dietetic interns.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of community nutrition programs.
  • Represent the nutrition department at hospital and community events.
