Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (experience)
  • CPR certification within 90 days of hire (experience)
  • Successful completion of a patient care aide-training program or equivalent (Preferred) (experience)
  • Ability to exert 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects (experience)
  • Visual acuity within normal ranges (experience)
  • Ability to position, lift, and move patients of all weights with varying amounts of assistance regularly (experience)
  • Ability to perform frequent walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and feeling throughout the work shift (experience)
  • Knowledge of IVAC pumps, drainage devices, catheters, restraints, and oxygen tanks (experience)
  • Proficiency with stretchers/carts, wheelchairs, O2 tanks, transfer devices, and personal protective equipment (experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and provide a safe environment for infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients (experience)
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of patient transport (experience)
  • Ability to utilize RIS to properly check-in and check-out patients (experience)
  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to body fluids, human tissues, contagious diseases, sharps and explosive gases (experience)
  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation (experience)
  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to high stress and constant interruptions (experience)
  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Transporting patients from various hospital departments to and from the Diagnostic Services Department
  • Maintaining accurate records of patient transport to and from the Diagnostic Services Department
  • Utilizing the RIS (Radiology Information System) to properly check-in and check-out patients
  • Demonstrating basic knowledge of IVAC pumps, drainage devices, catheters, restraints, and oxygen tanks
  • Demonstrating proficiency with stretchers/carts, wheelchairs, O2 tanks, transfer devices, and personal protective equipment
  • Communicating effectively with patients of all age groups (infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric)
  • Providing a safe environment for patients during transport
  • Adhering to all safety protocols and infection control guidelines
  • Assisting with patient transfers and positioning as needed
  • Responding to patient needs and requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and well-being
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
  • Participating in training and continuing education programs to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Following hospital policies and procedures
  • Reporting any incidents or concerns to the appropriate supervisor
  • Ensuring patient comfort during transport
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Providing excellent customer service to patients and their families
  • Knowing the location of emergency equipment and supplies
  • Knowing how to operate emergency equipment
  • Responding appropriately in emergency situations
  • Coordinating patient transport with other departments to ensure efficient workflow
