- Ensure proper tube usage and label specimens with appropriate information. Specimen preparation may include accessioning, centrifuging, and aliquoting.
- Submit specimens to Medical Technologists and Medical Laboratory Technicians for testing.
- Confirm/process patient information regarding laboratory testing from outside agencies/satellite facilities utilizing computer systems.
- Maintain laboratory work area in a clean and orderly condition; dispose of contaminated supplies and materials in the proper waste container.
- Maintain, request, order, and stock supplies as necessary to keep materials available at all times.
- Receive specimens into the laboratory from all areas and properly processes them into the department via LIS.
- Answer telephones and responds to calls, providing excellent customer service.
- Perform all procedures in a professional manner while maintaining patient dignity.
- Verify correct patient information and explains the procedure about to be performed.
- Consistently use time between tests to departmental advantage by assisting with office duties or performing other duties as requested.
