WVU Medicine is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Float Pool team at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, West Virginia. As a Float Pool RN, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care across various units within the hospital. This position requires a Registered Nurse with the authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for the delivery of nursing care through the use of the nursing process. The incumbent accepts accountability, applies competent clinical knowledge skills, and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by health care providers to whom care is delegated to achieve quality patient care outcomes.
The incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills at the novice level necessary to provide care that is relevant to the patient(s) under their care, as well as apply principles of growth and development over the life span. The incumbent also must possess the ability to assess and interpret patient data needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs. This role provides professional nursing care for patients in an inpatient hospital setting.

The minimum qualifications include a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia or a multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC), or a current West Virginia Registered Nurse Grad Permit with a permanent license obtained before its expiration, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
The preferred qualification is a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
The shift schedule can vary and may include day, evening, and night shifts, as well as weekends and holidays. Flexibility is required in this role.
