WVU Medicine is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) team at United Hospital Center (UHC) in Bridgeport, West Virginia. This is a night shift position, offering a unique opportunity to provide critical care to patients in a supportive and collaborative environment. As an RN in the IMU, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care, utilizing your clinical skills, and working alongside a team of healthcare professionals.
Your shift begins with a comprehensive review of patient charts, including vital signs, lab results, and physician orders. You'll collaborate with the outgoing RN to receive a detailed report on each patient's condition and care plan. Throughout the night, you'll administer medications, monitor vital signs, assess patient status, and document all observations accurately. You will be responsible for responding to patient calls, providing comfort and support, and addressing any emergent situations that may arise. You'll also work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective patient care. Patient safety is paramount, and you will adhere to strict protocols and procedures to minimize risks and prevent complications. You will educate patients and their families on their conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions. You will also participate in team meetings, share your expertise, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
