Role Overview

WVU Medicine is seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Princeton Community Hospital (PCH) in Princeton, West Virginia. This is a night shift position and is eligible for a sign-on bonus. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing evaluation and care for respiratory therapy patients, administering prescribed respiratory therapeutic services, and ensuring the highest quality of patient care. You will work with neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, performing basic and advanced therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

A Day in the Life

On a typical night shift, you can expect to:

  • Evaluate patients' respiratory status through observation, auscultation, and interpretation of diagnostic tests.
  • Administer medications via various routes, including nebulizers, inhalers, and metered-dose inhalers.
  • Monitor patients' responses to therapy and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Assemble, check, and correct malfunctions on respiratory care equipment.
  • Initiate, maintain, and discontinue mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
  • Provide assistance with patient and family/caregiver education.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance and hospital-wide organizational performance improvement activities.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide respiratory support as needed.
  • Document patient care accurately and completely in the electronic health record.
