- Assist providers in completing requisitions or forms for patient examination or testing.
- Ensure availability of test results for patient visits.
- Assist patients and providers with medical office visits.
- Administer prescribed medication under the supervision of an attending provider.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations of specimens.
- Obtain and document patients’ specimens as ordered.
- Document and report test results to the medical provider.
- Perform assigned and/or all ordered Point of Care Testing (POCT) tests after training and skills testing.
- Maintain quality control testing and logs for POCT.
- Schedule additional ancillary testing as needed.
- Act as a chaperone during medical examinations.
- Ensure medical records and test results are available for visits, including those from referring physicians.
- Inspect/review medical records to maintain correct order and completeness.
- Monitor nurse call system and relay information to appropriate staff.
- Answer telephone calls and transmit information to appropriate staff.
- Provide assistance and information to patients, families, and visitors as instructed by the physician.
- Participate in the Quality Assurance Program to ensure quality patient services are provided.
