Required Qualifications

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state of West Virginia or current multi-state LPN license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). (experience)
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire date. (experience)
• Satisfactory state criminal background check and Federal background check (if applicable), as required for regulated areas. (experience)
• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program. (experience)
• Demonstrated ability to provide direct patient care. (experience)
• Knowledge of nursing principles and procedures. (experience)
• Ability to accurately observe, record, and report patient information. (experience)
• Proficient in medication administration techniques. (experience)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. (experience)
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment. (experience)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care as outlined in the patient’s plan of care and/or as directed by the supervising Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist.
• Perform designated therapeutic procedures to assigned patients as needed.
• Accurately observe, record, and report patient concerns, symptoms, reactions, and progress to the supervising Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist in a timely manner.
• Assist physicians and the supervising Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist with examinations and procedures, as assigned.
• Contribute to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data.
• Observe the condition or change in condition of the patient, record signs and symptoms of deviation from normal health status, and report findings to the supervising Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist.
• Participate in the development of the patient’s plan of care by providing data, contributing to the identification of priorities, and assisting in the identification of measures to maintain comfort and support human functions and responses.
• Assist in assigned patient and family education and rehabilitation by reviewing patient needs with the supervising Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist and following the teaching plan.
• Document nursing interventions and responses to care, communicating to appropriate members of the health care team.
• Accurately and safely administer intramuscular, subcutaneous, IV, oral, nebulization and/or MDI delivered medications as assigned.
• Obtain instruction and supervision as necessary from the supervising Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist when implementing nursing technique or practices.
• Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a clean and safe patient environment.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist with patient transfers and discharges.
• Respond to patient calls and requests promptly and efficiently.
