As a Nursing Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and supporting the nursing team. The minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
A Pennsylvania Department of Health Nursing Assistant Certification is preferred.
One year of recent experience in a clinical setting providing direct patient care or completion of a health-related program that has provided Nursing Care Assistant skills is preferred.
Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting are required. The ability to lift and/or carry up to/over 50 pounds is also necessary.
The work environment includes potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, latex, and radiation.
The ability to attend to more than one aspect of a situation simultaneously and efficiency in processing verbal information are important.
Core duties include assisting with patient care, communicating patient information, orienting patients, answering call lights, documenting tasks, cleaning equipment, responding to emergencies, preparing and transporting patients, and restocking supplies.
The dress code typically involves scrubs or a uniform as specified by the hospital policy.
With experience and further education, you can advance to roles such as CNA, LPN, or RN.
