Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct the overall operations of Nursing/Patient Care Areas, specifically the Women's Center.
  • Ensure compliance with patient care quality standards for all age groups (infant to geriatric).
  • Maintain performance improvement activities within the department.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Assure competency of nursing personnel.
  • Assist in formulating the budget and maintain efficient and effective departmental operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations, laws, standards, and protocols.
  • Know and practice the philosophy, purpose, policies, and procedures of Nursing/Patient Care Areas.
  • Organize, direct, and administer Nursing/Patient Care Areas to provide the level of care required by current medical and nursing standards.
  • Serve as a resource to staff for solving clinical problems.
  • Plan and coordinate with the CEO and Director of Finance regarding budget requirements for personnel, supplies, and equipment.
  • Manage cost controls to ensure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from the approved departmental budgets.
  • Discuss potential swing bed admits with other departments when needed (e.g., pharmacy, PT/OT).
  • Anticipate actual/potential problems that may occur and set priorities accordingly.
  • Support and develop Nursing/Patient Care Areas by coordinating the employee selection process, work assignments, and staff development.
  • Maintain continuing quality assessment and improvement analysis and evaluation of patient care and communicate with the appropriate staff.
  • Respond to emergency situations if needed (RRT, Code Blue, Trauma).
  • Review documentation of incidents and communicate with appropriate staff as needed regarding incidents.
  • Serve as a consultant for patient care planning.
  • Plan for nursing practice activities consistent with sound utilization of personnel.
  • Recommend, support, and participate in education and training programs.
  • Ensure that cordial relationships are maintained with patients, their families, and friends.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct the overall operations of Nursing/Patient Care Areas, specifically the Women's Center.
  • Ensure compliance with patient care quality standards for all age groups (infant to geriatric).
  • Maintain performance improvement activities within the department.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Assure competency of nursing personnel.
  • Assist in formulating the budget and maintain efficient and effective departmental operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations, laws, standards, and protocols.
  • Know and practice the philosophy, purpose, policies, and procedures of Nursing/Patient Care Areas.
  • Organize, direct, and administer Nursing/Patient Care Areas to provide the level of care required by current medical and nursing standards.
  • Serve as a resource to staff for solving clinical problems.
  • Plan and coordinate with the CEO and Director of Finance regarding budget requirements for personnel, supplies, and equipment.
  • Manage cost controls to ensure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from the approved departmental budgets.
  • Discuss potential swing bed admits with other departments when needed (e.g., pharmacy, PT/OT).
  • Anticipate actual/potential problems that may occur and set priorities accordingly.
  • Support and develop Nursing/Patient Care Areas by coordinating the employee selection process, work assignments, and staff development.
  • Maintain continuing quality assessment and improvement analysis and evaluation of patient care and communicate with the appropriate staff.
  • Respond to emergency situations if needed (RRT, Code Blue, Trauma).
  • Review documentation of incidents and communicate with appropriate staff as needed regarding incidents.
  • Serve as a consultant for patient care planning.
  • Plan for nursing practice activities consistent with sound utilization of personnel.
  • Recommend, support, and participate in education and training programs.
  • Ensure that cordial relationships are maintained with patients, their families, and friends.
  • Evaluate nursing activities to ensure patient care, staff relations, and efficiency of service.
  • Work effectively with ancillary departments to provide an integrated approach to patient care.
  • Participate on hospital committees as assigned.
  • Interpret policies and procedures to nursing staff and other personnel.
  • Ensure adequate staffing to provide patient care within budgetary guidelines.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to disseminate information and promote teamwork.
  • Oversee the maintenance of patient records and ensure compliance with documentation standards.
  • Implement and monitor infection control practices within the Women's Center.
  • Promote a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
  • Support shared governance and collaborative decision-making processes.
