The Nutrition Care Assistant is responsible for providing direct patient meal service, including obtaining meal selections, delivering meals, and retrieving trays. This role requires a strong understanding of dietary restrictions and allergies, as well as excellent customer service skills and a commitment to patient safety. You will also maintain the cleanliness of nutrition centers in patient care areas, adhering to strict sanitation and safety guidelines.

You must have a valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) from the Monongalia County Health Department (MCHD) prior to starting OR obtain a MCHD Temporary FSWP no later than the first Wednesday of employment and a permanent MCHD FSWP within 1 month of start date. High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
Core duties include providing direct patient meal service, maintaining cleanliness of nutrition centers, answering phone calls, following dietary restrictions, utilizing EPIC and VST systems, and communicating with nursing staff and kitchen personnel.
The work environment is fast-paced and team-oriented. You will be working in a hospital setting, interacting with patients, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
The dress code typically involves wearing scrubs or a uniform provided by WVU Medicine. Specific details will be provided during the onboarding process.
Opportunities for advancement include roles such as Senior Nutrition Care Assistant, Dietary Technician, Food Service Supervisor, and Certified Dietary Manager.
You will receive comprehensive training on patient meal service, dietary restrictions, sanitation procedures, and the use of EPIC and VST systems.
