WVU Medicine is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our Legal Services team. As a Paralegal specializing in forms, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the standardization and consistency of forms used throughout the organization for the provision of care and services. This position requires a strong understanding of legal and regulatory compliance, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with attorneys and other stakeholders. The Paralegal will work under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Vice President & Senior Clinical Operations Counsel, providing general paralegal functions and supporting the legal needs of the West Virginia United Health System Legal Department.
On a typical day, you will be involved in a variety of tasks related to policy and procedure management, legal research, and document preparation. You might start by reviewing and drafting WVUHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with government rules and regulations. This involves summarizing supporting documentation, drafting correspondences, and assisting in the development of new policies. You will also organize and maintain policies and procedures in compliance with federal regulations, aiding in the implementation of policy management strategies and monitoring timing requirements for updates.
Another key aspect of your role will be performing basic legal and regulatory research related to healthcare policies, tracking developments and changes. You will gather materials from administrators and clinical departments in preparation for amendments and communicate effectively with physicians, clinical departments, Human Resources, and Administration regarding policies and procedures as necessary. Additionally, you will utilize Microsoft Office and other computer software to support the team's objectives, prepare legal documents, communicate with internal and external contacts, and assist in maintaining the Legal Department's document management system. You will also provide general support to the WVUHS Legal Services Department, assisting other counsel and staff within the Department as needed.

The minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree OR a High School Diploma AND Four (4) years of high-level administrative experience in a law firm or immigration group.
A paralegal certificate from an accredited organization is preferred but not required.
Three (3) years of experience related to the preparation, organization, and review of policies and procedures, healthcare-related laws and regulations, and experience in a private law firm, governmental agency legal department, or in-house legal department are preferred.
Key responsibilities include assisting in reviewing and drafting policies and procedures, conducting legal research, preparing legal documents, and maintaining the Legal Department’s document management system.
Exceptional grammatical and writing skills, communication and organizational skills, and analytical skills are essential for success.
This position is an on-site role, Monday through Friday.
