  • Observe and report patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge, and general patient care duties.
  • Record vital signs, assist in personal hygiene, and other patient comfort measures.
  • Record oral intake and outputs (temperature, blood pressure, and other monitoring).
  • Assist in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
  • Assist in indirect patient care by maintaining a clean and safe environment to help prevent and/or control infections.
  • Provide for safety of patients, visitors, and employees.
  • Report all necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel according to departmental procedure in a timely manner.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to departmental procedure.
  • Communicate with RN regarding any nutrition issues, such as poor appetite or verbalized lack of understanding of diet changes.
  • Assist department with administrative tasks to support department operations.
  • Answer patient call bell and relay message to appropriate personnel.
  • Complete annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards.
  • Assist with patient mobility and ambulation.
  • Monitor and document patient status and progress.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to patient care planning.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Assist with feeding patients who require assistance.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Assist with post-mortem care as needed.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and equipment for patient care.
