In this dual role, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients and performing general office duties, ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory department. This position is crucial in providing accurate diagnostic information to physicians, contributing directly to patient care.
As a Phlebotomist-Receptionist, your day will be dynamic and varied. You'll start by preparing the phlebotomy area, ensuring all supplies are stocked and equipment is functioning correctly. You will interact with patients, verifying their information and explaining the blood collection process. Using your expertise in venipuncture and capillary blood collection, you will draw blood specimens, adhering to strict safety and quality control standards. You’ll accurately order tests in the LIS to generate collection labels. Following collection, you will process the specimens, which includes accessioning, centrifuging, and aliquoting. You'll also handle a range of administrative tasks, such as answering phones, responding to inquiries, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records. Collaboration with medical technologists and other healthcare professionals will be a key part of your day, ensuring seamless workflow and optimal patient outcomes.
