Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program. (experience)
  • Current or temporary Radiography License as required by West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board. (experience)
  • Registered Radiography Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within prior to expiration of WV temporary license. (experience)
  • Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire. (experience)
  • State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas. (experience)
  • Knowledge of radiographic procedures and protocols. (experience)
  • Ability to operate and maintain radiographic equipment. (experience)
  • Understanding of radiation safety principles and practices. (experience)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. (experience)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment. (experience)
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. (experience)
  • Ability to adapt to changing workloads and priorities. (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Performs imaging procedures based on assessment of the patient's status, service request, and imaging protocols.
  • Produces images of optimal quality by using imaging equipment and systems.
  • Selects exposure factors based on patient size, condition, and pathology to optimize image quality and minimize radiation exposure.
  • Minimizes radiation exposure to self, patients, and staff using shielding, collimation, and the inverse square law.
  • Maintains expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology relative to imaging.
  • Assesses patient needs and provides imaging-related comfort, hygiene, and support.
  • Prepares contrast agents, specific pharmaceuticals, and sterile trays for imaging procedures.
  • Educates patients regarding radiographic procedures and answers questions.
  • Rotates in all diagnostic areas to develop technical skills (Fluoro, Mobiles, Routine, Operating Room, Endoscopy, Orthopedics).
  • Participates in quality assurance and quality control activities.
  • Maintains accurate and complete patient records and documentation.
  • Adheres to all safety regulations and protocols.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Assists in training and mentoring new staff members.
  • Participates in continuing education and professional development activities.
