Role Overview

WVU Medicine is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pressure Injury Reduction Team at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. This full-time, day shift position (5a-530p) offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the prevention and treatment of pressure injuries, improving patient outcomes and enhancing the quality of care.

As a member of the Pressure Injury Reduction Team, you will play a crucial role in assessing patients' risk for pressure injuries, implementing preventative measures, and providing specialized wound care treatments. You will collaborate with an interprofessional team to develop and implement care plans, educate patients and families, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our pressure injury prevention program.

A Day in the Life

On a typical day, you will:

  • Assess patients for risk factors related to pressure injury development.
  • Implement and monitor preventative measures, such as repositioning schedules and specialized support surfaces.
  • Provide direct wound care, including cleansing, debridement, and dressing changes.
  • Educate patients and families on pressure injury prevention techniques.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to pressure injury prevention.

Required Qualifications
