  • Pennsylvania: Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee License through the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy. (experience)
  • West Virginia: Pharmacy Technician License or Trainee License through West Virginia Board of Pharmacy. (experience)
  • Preferred: Associate's degree OR Post-high school education in a science field of study OR graduate of a pharmacy technician training program. (experience)
  • Preferred: Six (6) months of pharmacy technician experience. (experience)
  • Ability to read and interpret physician's orders. (experience)
  • Understanding of standard pharmaceutical/medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols. (experience)
  • Ability to accurately prepare and deliver medications, including controlled substances. (experience)
  • Proficiency in maintaining necessary records related to medication dispensing. (experience)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks. (experience)

  • Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a pharmacist. (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in various aspects of drug distribution under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Read and interpret physician's orders for medication preparation and dispensing.
  • Prepare medications, including unique dosage forms, for all patient populations.
  • Prepare sterile products and chemotherapy medications according to established procedures.
  • Manage controlled substance distribution and maintain accurate records.
  • Order and deliver drug supplies to various patient-care units.
  • Replenish patient's medications based on interpreted lists and deliver contents to patient care areas according to schedule.
  • Maintain accurate records of medication dispensing and inventory.
  • Understand and utilize standard pharmaceutical/medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols.
  • Operate pharmacy equipment and software systems effectively.
  • Adhere to all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist pharmacists with various tasks to ensure efficient pharmacy operations.
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and training programs.
  • Ensure patient safety and confidentiality in all aspects of medication handling.
