WVU Medicine is seeking a motivated and dedicated Student CT Tech Extern to join our Radiology Department at Thomas Memorial Hospital (TMH) in South Charleston, West Virginia. As a Student CT Tech Extern, you will assist Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists in performing imaging and therapeutic services, providing essential patient care, and contributing to the overall mission of the Radiology Department in delivering diagnostic information for effective patient treatment.
This position is designed to provide you with a comprehensive learning experience, exposing you to various aspects of diagnostic imaging. You'll work under the direct supervision of experienced technologists, gaining practical skills in areas such as fluoroscopy, mobile radiography, routine imaging, operating room procedures, endoscopy, and orthopedics. You'll also learn how to prepare contrast agents and sterile trays, assist with patient transport, and educate patients about the imaging process.

You must be currently enrolled in an accredited radiography school.
Core duties include rotating through various diagnostic areas, assisting with procedures, preparing contrast agents, educating patients, and reporting equipment failures.
You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, carry items up to 20 lbs, wear a lead apron for extended periods, and stand/walk for extended periods.
You will be exposed to minimal radiation, airborne particles, and body fluids. You will also be operating imaging equipment with automated moving parts.
You should have the ability to interact positively with patients, prioritize tasks, use safe patient handling equipment, and improvise positioning techniques.
