As an OR Surgical Technician at United Hospital Center (UHC), a part of WVU Medicine, you will play a crucial role in providing intraoperative care to patients. Functioning as the scrub person, you will assist the surgical team during operative procedures, ensuring a sterile and efficient environment. This position requires a strong understanding of aseptic techniques, surgical instruments, and patient safety protocols. You will work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver the highest quality of care.
Your day will typically involve preparing the operating room for surgery, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile. You will scrub in and assist the surgeon by passing instruments, holding retractors, and maintaining a sterile field. Throughout the procedure, you will monitor the sterile field, perform sponge and instrument counts, and assist with patient positioning. After the surgery, you will assist with cleaning and sterilizing instruments and preparing the OR for the next case.
