- Performs sponge, instrument, and needle counts with the circulating RN following established policies.
- Assists by gowning and gloving surgeons; positions equipment and instruments.
- Passes sterile instruments to the surgical team during a surgical procedure.
- Operates specialty equipment after receiving specific training.
- Assists with transportation and positioning of OR patients.
- Performs designated procedures as needed following departmental policies/procedures/practice guidelines.
- Processes supplies, instruments, and equipment used in patient care by preparing supplies/equipment for surgical procedure following preference cards.
- Assists with sterilization by cleaning used instruments during case and at case conclusion.
- Assists with maintenance of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment.
- As assigned, assists with inventory restocking.
- Cleans and prepares work environment including the return of equipment to designated storage locations.
- Removes out of date items.
- Documents appropriately to foster the work of the department by assisting with clerical work and record keeping duties.
