Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care as outlined in the patient’s plan of care and/or as directed by the overseeing role, promoting comfort and functional health.
  • Consult with the overseeing role to seek guidance in the delivery of nursing care as necessary.
  • Perform designated therapeutic procedures to assigned patients as needed.
  • Accurately observe, record, and report all patient concerns, symptoms, reactions, and progress to the overseeing role in a timely manner.
  • Assist physicians and the overseeing role with examinations and procedures, as assigned.
  • Contribute to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data.
  • Observe the condition or change in condition of the patient, record signs and symptoms of deviation from normal health status, and report findings to the overseeing role.
  • Participate in the development of the patient’s plan of care by providing data, contributing to the identification of priorities, and assisting in the identification of measures to maintain comfort and support human functions and responses.
  • Assist in assigned patient and family education and rehabilitation by reviewing patient needs with the overseeing role and following the teaching plan.
  • Document nursing interventions and responses to care, communicating to appropriate members of the health care team.
  • Accurately and safely administer intramuscular, subcutaneous, IV, and oral medications as assigned.
  • Obtain instruction and supervision as necessary from the overseeing role when implementing nursing techniques or practices.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and activities to enhance patient care outcomes.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-service programs, and continuing education opportunities.
