  • Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations of specimens.
  • Obtain and document patients’ specimens as ordered.
  • Document and report test results to the medical provider.
  • Perform assigned and/or all ordered Point of Care Testing (POCT) tests and maintain quality control testing and logs after training and skills testing.
  • Schedule additional ancillary testing as needed.
  • Act as a chaperone during medical examinations.
  • Ensure medical records and test results are available for visits, including those from referring physicians; inspect/review medical records to maintain correct order and completeness.
  • Monitor the nurse call system and relay information to appropriate staff; manage telephone calls and transmit information to appropriate staff.
