Product Data Engineering focuses on product-impacting data systems—from AI personalization to usage analytics and billing. You'll partner with product teams to deliver reliable, actionable data that enhances user experiences across millions of automations.

Data Platforms builds the secure, governed foundation enabling trust at scale. Specializing in privacy, security, and compliance, this team ensures Zapier's data operations remain robust as we scale globally.

Key Responsibilities

1. Architect and implement scalable ETL/ELT pipelines processing billions of automation events daily.
2. Design RESTful APIs and data services powering product features like personalization and recommendations.
3. Build and maintain data platforms ensuring governance, privacy controls, and regulatory compliance (GDPR/CCPA).
4. Collaborate with PMs and engineers to translate product requirements into reliable data solutions.
5. Optimize data warehouse performance using Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift partitioning strategies.
6. Implement streaming pipelines with Kafka or Kinesis for real-time analytics.
7. Develop dbt models transforming raw data into business-ready datasets.
8. Deploy infrastructure as code using Terraform across multi-cloud environments.
9. Monitor data quality with automated tests and alerting systems.
10. Create usage analytics powering billing systems and growth insights.
11. Enhance data discoverability through metadata management and cataloging.
12. Troubleshoot production incidents minimizing MTTR through robust observability.
13. Contribute to team standards establishing data engineering best practices at Zapier.

Qualifications & Requirements

We're seeking senior Data Engineers with proven track records in scalable systems:

• 4+ years production experience building cloud-native data pipelines (AWS/GCP/Azure)
• Strong software engineering skills designing APIs/services (Product Data focus)
• Data governance/privacy/security implementation (Data Platforms focus)
• Expertise in Python/SQL with modern data stack (Airflow, dbt, Snowflake)
• Experience partnering cross-functionally delivering data-driven product impact
• Streaming data processing (Kafka, Kinesis, Flink)
• Infrastructure automation (Terraform, Kubernetes)
• Data compliance knowledge (GDPR, SOC2, HIPAA awareness)

Salary & Benefits

Competitive Compensation: $145,000 - $195,000 USD base salary (depending on experience/location), plus equity and performance bonuses. Total compensation often exceeds $250K for senior talent.
